The Good Health Center, considered to be one of the most comprehensive, low-cost health enhancement facilities in the area, offers a proactive approach to improving well-being. We empower patients to take control and address their health issues. The three strategies include:

1. Teaching behavioral modification techniques. We provide
    services that help prevent sickness, disease or injury. These
    include:

  • smoking cessation    
  • nutrition/weight management
  • stress reduction  
  • sports injury prevention

     Educational programs on a variety of health topics, such as:

  • smoking cessation
  • nutrition/weight managemen
  • stress reduction
  • sports injury prevention


 

2. Offering low-cost and/or free screening evaluations to detect the existence of potential disease in its early stages. Screenings/evaluations provided during the year include: vision, hearing, pulmonary function, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood lipids (fats), diabetes, depression and anxiety disorders, as well as cancer screenings.

3. Providing programs, services and support groups that focus on managing diseases such as cardiac disease, cancer, diabetes and more. The Good Health Center offers Cardiac Rehabilitation (phase II & III), Arthritis Self-Help Course, Stroke Club, Diabetes Course and Support Group, Prostate Cancer Support Group, Bereavement Support and Alcoholics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

The Good Health Center provides continuous low-cost health enhancement services for people and corporations who wish to monitor the success of their efforts. Examples of the ongoing services include: health/fitness assessments, pulmonary function evaluations, blood pressure and cholesterol/blood lipid evaluations. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (phase II & III), Parish Nursing, and community cancer screening and education.
