Medical and Radiation Oncology

Medical Oncology
If you are a patient with cancer, it is likely that you were first referred to a medical oncologist by your primary care doctor or an emergency room physician.

A medical oncologist is frequently the doctor who manages a cancer patient’s course of treatment. The medical oncologist is also the doctor who “follows,” or examines at regular intervals, the patient who is in remission or who has been cured.

MedStar Good Samaritan’s medical oncologists manage treatment of the full range of cancers. When appropriate, they consult with other cancer specialists in our multidisciplinary healthcare team and refer to other doctors for tests and procedures.

Radiation Oncology Center
MedStar Good Samaritan’s Radiation Oncology Center offers an easily accessible, modern treatment environment.

Treatment plans are part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Fluoroscopy and a computerized simulator help our team of cancer experts determine appropriate radiation treatments for individual patients.

Staffed by full-time radiation oncologists and supported by a large and expert staff, our radiation oncology center is one of a handful of radiation departments nationwide to receive triple accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the American College of Radiology, and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

  • Learn about our radiation partner, MedStar Health's RadAmerica. RadAmerica offers CyberKnife with Synchrony which is used to treat inoperable or surgically difficult tumors.
