Joint Replacement and our JointExperience Program
Do you have joint pain that prevents you from living life the way you want? Whether it's hip or knee pain, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital is your single location for all of the comprehensive care you need. Our team of orthopaedic experts includes orthopaedic surgeons, rehabilitation therapists, specialized pharmacists and patient care coordinators. All of them are committed to getting you pain free, so you can start living again. We've discovered a way to make your experience as stress-free as possible, so you can concentrate on getting back on your feet.

Between our new orthopaedic unit and our JointExperience program, a special program designed for hip and knee replacement patients, we truly have thought of everything, so you don't have to. Our new, 20,000-square-foot orthopaedic floor in the O'Neill Building at MedStar Good Samaritan is a 32-bed unit especially designed to provide a comforting, welcoming environment. Nursing stations are positioned between every two rooms for a quick response to your needs. Beautifully decorated with soothing colors and textures, it combines at-home ambiance with efficiency features to help your caregivers provide the very best care.
Since the first procedure nearly 40 years ago, physicians have performed more hip and knee replacement surgeries at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital than at any other facility in Maryland. This valuable experience, combined with our care-based approach, is why we are regarded as one of the region's most comprehensive and supportive programs for joint replacement.
JointExperience: A Unique Approach to Comprehensive Care
What makes the JointExperience program so unique and valuable to patients is its focus on multi-disciplinary, coordinated care. Our team of experts works together to plan and coordinate a program of care that is best for you and the active lifestyle you want to gain back. All of these experts are at one location, so you benefit from their combined effort to create a plan specifically designed for you. Their plan takes into account all of your needs, starting with patient education and prehab all the way through surgery to recovery and rehab. Your coordinated care team works with you each step of the way and has you interacting with other joint patients to encourage your successful recovery.
And we know that being surrounded by family and friends can speed up your recovery, so our JointExperience focuses on family involvement in a positive atmosphere. JointExperience offers a completely coordinated journey, from the first visit to the surgeon's office until after you leave the hospital.
Our more than 20-year affiliation with Johns Hopkins Orthopaedics means that we can offer an exceptional JointExperience. Here at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, we are committed to helping you understand what your experience will involve, and making sure our team provides the finest care every step of the way.
