Our Campaigns/Committees The gifts that support our accomplishments come to us through different sources. Through these campaigns our contributors offer Good Samaritan a tremendous outpouring of support.
Why do so many choose to give so much to Good Samaritan? As the name of our major campaign — Celebrating Our Legacy — indicates, Good Samaritan has a tradition of giving. Good Samaritan Hospital was founded through the generosity of Baltimore businessman and philanthropist Thomas J. O’Neill. And the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation and its Board of Directors have worked diligently to nurture his endowment. So, philanthropy and good stewardship form the basis of Good Samaritan’s heritage.
The hospital provides excellent care, and does so with a unique spirit instantly recognizable to patients and staff. As former board member and long-time contributor Pat Smyth has noted, “No matter what situation you’re in, no matter what difficulties you face, when you come to Good Samaritan Hospital, you receive the best care from people who treat you like a human being. God bless them! That’s why I give.”
Are we confident that the hospital’s good work and unique spirit will always inspire giving? Yes. Yet, generosity is always surprising. That people will freely give of their resources, when life asks so much of them — that’s always unexpected. That people will find a way to support something greater than themselves — that’s always remarkable.
