Costa Support Program

The Dr. Anthony J. Costa Memorial Support Services Program at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital was established in 1997. The program is named in honor of Dr. Costa, former chief of podiatry at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. After his death, his wife, with the support of our hospital, created this program as a means of helping others coping with cancer.

Our goal is to help you and your family build an individualized network of supportive care. The Support Services Program provides patients and families with a resource center staffed with caring volunteers and caregivers. Our services include:

  • Support and care for those diagnosed with cancer, lupus, osteoporosis, arthritis and related diseases
  • Compassionate, personalized care for patients and their families
  • A quiet, meditative area with access to an array of helpful information and resources
  • Pre- and post-procedure support for both inpatients and outpatients
  • Assistance with referrals to support groups and other community resources
  • Help with building and strengthening the network of supportive care for those diagnosed with cancer and rheumatic illnesses, and their loved ones

A Phone Call Away
