Karen Kansler, RN
Karen Kansler, MA, BSN, RN, is a community outreach nurse at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital with nearly 30 years of orthopedic nursing experience. She has conducted more than 800 health and wellness lectures, seminars and workshops promoting active aging related to such health concerns as arthritis, osteoporosis, stress management, senior intimacy and more. Karen holds a master’s degree in Studies in Aging from Notre Dame of Maryland University (formerly the College of Notre Dame) and is driven by her passion for motivating maturing adults to stay active, wise and well.
Karen is a certified orthopedic nurse, a certified arthritis aquatics instructor (who teaches weekly swim classes at the Towson Merritt Athletic Club), as well as a certified Tai Chi instructor, and recently became certified as a Senior Fitness Specialist. She also teaches fitness classes with the Baltimore County Department of Aging. Karen is an active volunteer for Operation Walk, a medical mission that provides free total hip and knee replacements to indigent people all over the world.
As an orthopedic nurse and national speaker on healthy aging, Karen has led the arthritis outreach efforts at MedStar Good Samaritan since 1999. She has also been instrumental in developing our new VintAGE program focused on education, volunteerism and growing better as we age.
