Baltimore—MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, in partnership with WJZ-TV (Channel 13), will host a live “Ask the Expert” event tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 17, from noon to 6:30 p.m. The event, focused on pain management, is designed to educate viewers about topics related to pain; including knee, hip, back, neck pain; arthritis pain; headaches; and much more. Providing a platform for the audience to call in, our experts are available to speak live with viewers to answer pain-related questions and offer treatment advice.
MedStar Good Samaritan experts from a variety of specialties, including wellness, primary care, emergency medicine, gynecology, orthopaedics and spine care, heart and vascular care, rehabilitation, and pain medicine will staff a 16-person phone bank. Viewers can reach our experts by calling 410-466-1313 between noon and 6:30 p.m.
Short live interviews with our specialists will be featured during the noon, 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts to educate viewers about the services at MedStar Good Samaritan and to encourage viewers to call in. MedStar Good Samaritan experts and topics featured live at the event include:
Maneesh Sharma, director of pain medicine, will discuss pain relief available through use of a spinal cord stimulator; during the noon newscast.
Karen Kansler, RN, arthritis navigator and community outreach nurse, will highlight pain related to arthritis and the treatment options available; during the 4 p.m. newscast.
Robert Peroutka, MD, orthopaedic and spine surgeon, will address knee pain and educate viewers about the JointExperience, a comprehensive care program available at MedStar Good Samaritan; during the 5 p.m. newscast.
Derek Papp, MD, sports medicine and orthopaedic surgeon, will discuss pain in relation to shoulder injuries; during the 6 p.m. newscast.
Continual messaging through pre-recorded commercials running throughout the day, WJZ-TV website coverage and “crawls” (type across the bottom of the television screen during programming), will encourage viewers to take action and call in to speak with one of our experts.
